AC method for factoring
This method helps to factorize trinomials to obtain a product of two binomials. The approach is to find a suitable split of the middle part of the trinomial. If your trinomial is Ax² + Bx + C, you need to solve the following equations:
To get the pq you have to go like this:
1) ?1 • ?2 = A • C
2) ?1 + ?2 = B
A, B and C are known quantities. ?1 and ?2 are unknown.
After finding the unknown quantities it is necessary to reorganize the trinomial by splitting the middle part. Then you have to group and factorize the resulting binomials.
The last step is using the distributive law to transform the addition of the factorized binomials into a product of binomials.
