Fill in your given numbers:
Pythagorean theorem
The Pythagorean theorem is a fundamental relation in Euclidean geometry. It helps to calculate every side of a right triangle. The Pythagorean equation is:
a² + b² = c²
The edge c represents the hypotenuse, a and b the legs. The right angle must be between the legs a and b. See the illustration on the left to see what is meant.
How to use it
Please enter values in two of the three text fields (a, b and c). The buttons on the left side show the possible symbols you can enter. Decimals and fractions are supported.
To calculate the result with your input press the green “=“-button.
What does the calculator do?
It might take some seconds before the result shows up.
- Isolates the missing quantity by converting a² + b²: c²
- Inserts your values into the resulting equation.
- Shows every step to calculate the result.
Your calculation will appear here!
